Use Inbox Tabs to Organize Messages
Gmail automatically sorts messages into different categories. But, did you know you can organize your incoming messages to appear on different tabs in your Inbox based on the categories?
Try one of these two methods to set up the category tabs
Method One:
- Go to your inbox and click on the gear and choose Settings, Configure Inbox.
- Put a check next the categories you want to see as tabs in the inbox (see category descriptions below).
- Save.
Category Descriptions
- Primary - Think of this as your "Main" inbox where email from family, friends and other emails that don’t fit into the other categories.
- Social - Emails from social media/websites.
- Promotions - Deals offers and other promotional emails.
- Updates - Notifications such as confirmations, receipts, bills, and statements.
- Forums - Messages from online groups, discussion boards, and mailing lists.
