Web Clipboard

Did you know that you can copy multiple items then choose and paste later?
Google Drive has a Web Clipboard tool that lets you select more than one item to place in the Web Clipboard. You may then choose which one/s to paste elsewhere later on.  You can also copy something on one computer and then paste it using another.  Items you copy to the web clipboard will stay there (on Google's servers) for 30 days or until you Clear all items (Edit menu).

To use the web clipboard, select/highlight what you’d like to copy
  • Choose Edit menu
  • Choose Web Clipboard
  • Choose copy Selection to Web Clipboard
Now you can navigate to the destination file (where you want to paste an item to)
  • Choose Edit menu
  • Choose Web Clipboard - a list of the items previously copied will appear
  • Click on the item you want to paste
Items stored in the Web Clipboard can be pasted into Google Docs, Slides or Drawings (you cannot paste into Google Sheets).
For Drawings
  • Edit menu
  • Web Clipboard
  • Copy Shapes to web clipboard
When you want to paste go to
  • Edit menu
  • Web Clipboard - You will see Shape option/s in the list of items
If you have multiple shapes just hover the mouse over Shape in the list and you will get a preview of the shape as shown below:
Presentations/Slides
The steps are pretty much the same however, when you copy from Google Slides and select a text box it will be stored in the web clipboard as  a “Shape” and it will be pasted as a shape in the destination file.
As I mentioned previously the Web Clipboard does not work in Google Sheets at this time.
When you want to clear/empty the Web clipboard simply go to:
  • Edit Menu
  • Choose Web Clipboard
  • Choose Clear All Items
This will empty the Web clipboard so you can start fresh!
