Hour of Code

This is the third year my students and I have participated in the Hour of Code.  It is always a great success.  I always kick off the event by showing a video or two to get students inspired.

Why You Should Code
The Hour of Code is Here

The Hour of Code is a worldwide event held during Computer Science Education Week.  It is always held during the week of Grace Hopper's birthday (Dec. 9).  Grace Hopper was one of the first people to program computers back in the 1940's.  You can find out more about Grace Hopper here.

Students get introduced to programming and coding by completing hands-on tutorials.  The event is meant to "demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics." Click here to find out more and check out the tutorials that are available.
